Micro Wines acknowledges the traditional owners and first custodians of Australia, and that their land was never ceded nor does treaty exist. Our wine is harvested from the traditional lands of the Wathaurung People of the Wathaurung Nation, the Bunurung People of the Bunurung Nation, and the Kaurna People of the Kaurna Nation.  Grapes turn into wine on Wathaurung Country. We pay our respects to these nations’ elders past and present.

It’s always special to see one’s babies in the It’s always special to see one’s babies in the wild. But to see my bottles on a shelf next to these legends is something else. These 5 wines tell the history of Australian wine pretty holistically. From a 130 year old vineyard in the heart of the Barossa tended by one of Australia’s great wine families, an icon of the Yarra in it’s 51st year of production, a visionary that energized Australia the world over (💔), and a tenderfoot that’s been welcomed into the fold with open hearts and arms. Thanks for telling the story @leduwines, and for all the love.

This @nytimes poll shines a light, albeit unintentionally, on how important the hospitality industry is to us all. #saverestaurants

Let us introduce you to Jonathan Ross from @microwines – the Master Sommelier from New York who came to Australia and took up winemaking. He's in the 2020 #YGOW Top 50. Let's get to know him a little better. See our chat below, and for more about Jon and his Micro Wines label, follow the 👉 link in our bio.

Q. Why does wine matter?
A. Relationships: between humans and the natural earth, between farmers and producers, between suppliers and buyers, between people sharing a glass. It’s all about relationships.
Q. Which wine that you’ve drunk/tasted do you most wish that you’d made?
A. I’ve never had that emotion. Though, I feel like the most compelling wines I’ve had are made by the farmer and the fruit. I would love to work with fruit from La Landonne [syrah, Rhone Valley], Clos St. Hune [riesling, Alsace], and Falletto di Serralunga [nebbiolo, Barolo]. Unfortunately it’s not for sale.
Q. Which wine that you’ve made or help make are you most pleased with?
A. Too soon to tell. I love all of my children.
Q. What can’t you do without?
A. Jane Lopes (@janeymaxine)
Q. What’s next?
A. Adding a Semillon source for v2020
Q. Who in the world of wine do you most admire, and why?
A. The vigneron that quit their day job, bought fruit and made some wine, and now has grown to have their own small estate that they tend to by hand every day.
Q. They say it takes a lot of beer to make great wine. What’s your pick?
A. @mainebeerco’s Tiny Beautiful Something
Q. No expense spared. One wine. What, where and how?
A. 1961 @jeanlouischave [Hermitage], with every sommelier I’ve ever worked with.
Q. What do you cook better than anyone else, and what can’t you nail?
A. Quesadillas made with homemade tortillas. Perfect Congee is impossible.
